Begun in 2021, Kathy Fish’s Substack newsletter, The Art of Flash Fiction, now has nearly 9.4K subscribers. The bestselling newsletter was named one of the Twenty Best Creative Writing Substacks by Writers at Work. Subscribers to the free version receive a monthly flash fiction craft essay, writing prompts and tips, and recommended reading lists. My background: I have been writing and publishing short fiction for more than twenty years. In that time I have also worked as an editor and a teacher/workshop facilitator. I have judged numerous writing competitions, most recently the Bridport Prize in the flash fiction category and served as Guest Editor for the Wigleaf Top 50. I was a faculty mentor in fiction for the Mile-High MFA at Regis University in Denver from 2015-2021. I have continuously taught popular online workshops of my own design since 2016. I have also taught classes abroad for Flash Fiction Retreats (Italy, France, Costa Rica, Iceland, Spain) and in the UK for the yearly Flash Fiction Festival in Bristol. In 2022, I was a featured lecturer and reader for the West Cork Literary Festival in Ireland.
